Why plan and who is the planning for? Who should be the focus of your decision making about how and what you teach – students, you, parents/carers, school, school system, community, government?

Planning is important for teachers as it helps clarify the learning objectives and the path we will take the students on to get there. Once the plan is made, it also helps teachers as they can free up their lesson time to help students instead of trying to work out what will come next. [All of APST 3]

The focus of the decision making is the students. Ultimately, teachers are there to try andĀ give students the knowledge and skills that will help them thrive in THEIR world when they leave school. All students have different ambitions after school and trying to shoehorn all students into one style of education because it’s easy for the school or one curriculum because it’s convenient for the government isn’t going to be the best for every student.
